The gaming world is eagerly waiting for Sony’s upcoming console, the PS5 Pro. According to industry insider Jeff Grubb, co-host of the popular Game Mess Decides podcast, the PS5 Pro is slated for a September 2024 launch.
Some rumors early this year stated that PS5 Pro might launch in 2023. However, we did not get the console. Instead, Sony revealed the new PlayStation 5 Slim, which basically is a redesigned version of PS5. It is not drastically different; however still smaller.
While Sony is still finalizing the hardware details, the leaked specifications indicate that the PS5 Pro will offer significant improvements over the current PS5. One of the key features is Sony’s proprietary machine learning-based solution for image quality enhancement, akin to DLSS. This feature is expected to deliver sharper images at higher frame rates and more demanding graphical settings.
PS5 Pro will give justice to high graphics of GTA 6
According to the reports, the PS5 Pro will have the below 3 major changes:
- Advanced storage solutions with hardware-accelerated compression and decompression
- Cutting-edge ray tracing
- Innovative image reconstruction and upsampling.
Being a Pro, we know for sure, it will be better than vanilla PS5. It will have more processing power. According to reports, the chip codenamed Viola, will retain the Zen2 CPU architecture to ensure compatibility with existing games. However, it will provide increased processing power, with a dynamic frequency peaking at 4.4GHz and enhanced cache memory.
Moreover, it will not disappoint in graphics power too. It is said that Viola will be equipped with 30 Workgroup Processors (WGPs). However, only 28 WGPs (equivalent to 56 Compute Units) will be active in the retail versions of the PS5 Pro, it will be done so there is balance between efficiency and power.
That said, the PS5 Pro definitely looks promising. After all, we need a console that gives justice to the demanding GTA 6 that launches in 2026.
