Henry Cavill, known for his roles in the DC Extended Universe has now played a spy role in Argylle. Some fans are wondering if will he be able to play the role of 007 after his act in Argylle or not. Thankfully, Cavill himself has answered this question to clear all doubts.
In a conversation with Total Film, Cavill stated that his portrayal of a super spy in Argylle should not disqualify him from being considered for the role of 007. He believes the decision ultimately rests with the franchise producers, Barbara Broccoli and Mr. Wilson.
Interestingly, this is not Cavill’s first brush with the Bond franchise. He was in the running to play the suave spy in 2006’s Casino Royale, but lost out to Daniel Craig due to his younger age. Despite the setback, Cavill’s audition left a positive impression on Martin Campbell, the director of Casino Royale, fueling speculation about his potential return to the Bond universe.
Henry Cavill is missing one piece of the puzzle
Over the years, Cavill’s popularity has soared, thanks in part to his decade-long stint as Superman.
However, at 40, he may be considered too old for the role of Bond. Eon Productions, the producers of the James Bond series, have indicated a preference for a younger actor, possibly in their 30s, for the upcoming Bond 26.
Cavill’s Future Projects
Beyond Bond, Cavill has a busy schedule. Argylle is coming this February, and this might not be the solo movie in the franchise. The director Matthew Vaughn plans to develop at least two sequels, obviously if the first part performs well.
Cavill is also attached to a reboot of the 1980s sci-fi fantasy classic Highlander, slated for a 2026 release, and is working on a Warhammer 40,000 cinematic universe at Amazon Studios.
