Baldur’s Gate 3 head of publishing at Larian says that it “really holds up” on Steam Deck. But it might not be verified by launch.
Baldur’s Gate 3’s early access was playable on Steam Deck for little time. But players have got mixed results. While it sounds like it is completed, there are complaints about low framerates. It occurs on graphical settings turned down.
However, this can be improved with the PC launch. Larian‘s director of publishing described the quality as “absolutely wild”. Larian previously suggesting that it won’t be Deck Verified by launch. But they are working towards its improvements.
“Playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on Steam Deck is absolutely wild. The quality of models etc really holds up in cinematics. Can’t wait for you to try it.” Said by Michael Douse, Larian’s head of publishing.

While this isn’t an official confirmation. We can assume that this means improvements have been made in Baldur’s Gate 3. So that it can run on Steam Deck ahead of the PC launch on August 3.
As for Baldur’s Gate 3’s Deck Verification, Swen Vincke talked about this in an interview (spotted by Reddit user Shackleberry).
“We’re working on it,” says Vincke, responding to a viewer’s question on the state of the game on Deck. “We’re trying to get it there. It might not be there on the day of release but it’s not very far off.”
So game is under development. We can assume that it will remove all the issues. Finally gamers can enjoy it on every single day.
It will not be a huge surprise because August 3 wasn’t supposed to be the release date. As it was planned to release on August 31 alongside its PS5 release. This date was moved to avoid clashing with Starfield.
Compatibility
Larian isn’t all that’s keeping busy getting ready to launch the game earlier. The studio wants Baldur’s Gate 3 to release on Xbox as well. But issues are there in development. They are making it to work on both Series X and S. So it can retain similar features. So weaker console is said to struggle.
